At Purbeck Light we feel it is important for students to be tutored in small groups: we aim to work with a maximum group size of 12 with at least one tutor per four students. This means that you get the maximum amount of attention, with hands on learning and practical tuition in a friendly supportive environment. Cameras haven't really changed that much since the 1960s, they just seem to have sprouted lots of knobs and buttons. We want to help you learn how to "uncomplicate" and gain control of your camera, and get the images you expect - digital or film. We run two types of course: some workshops are more about the technique than the location, so although we might explore the variety of shots that location has to offer, we stay in the one place; other workshops are based around a theme, and require some transport from location to location. An example of this is our Corfe Castle day, where just about every shooting location has views of the castle, but which does require some driving between points. We use venues in various places around Purbeck, depending on which course we run. Many of our locations are chosen not just for their access to subject matter and accessibility, but also because they have offer a suitable classroom environment. Although most things need to be practiced to make them second nature, a classroom is useful for talking through the theory and demonstrating results... Either way, we are confident that you will walk away from one of our courses with a much greater understanding of what you can achieve with your camera, and an insight into the type of images you will be able to create. |
