Locations - Kimmeridge PDF Print E-mail
Kimmeridge beach is a favourite for landscape photographers - the only Purbeck beach to face west and offer sunset shots, as well as undulating cliffs, receding headlands and a folly - Clavell Tower, recently rebuilt.  Rock ledges, tidal pools, fossils and black sands offer a wealth of close up subject matter too.

We use as our base Dorset Wildlife Trust's Fine Foundation Marine Centre.  It's easy to find at the east end of the beach, in amongst the fishing huts.  There is limited parking alongside, but the centre is only a few hundred yards from the main car park on the cliffs overlooking the sea.

Kimmeridge is easy to find:
  • from Wareham follow the A351 to Corfe Castle
  • as the road dips down just before the castle, turn right towards the Army ranges at Lulworth
  • follow the road through the village of Church Knowle - the left turn to Kimmeridge is well signposted a mile or so further on
  • drive through Kimmeridge village to the toll road that leads down to the beach and car park.
